How a shift in your beliefs could change the world

America,

A lot of what we are living today is based on the very things that we inherited from our ancestors. And if we’re going to be honest about it, not all of that is something to be proud of.

Some of it has caused tremendous pain and trauma in the world, much of which has been passed on for generations. Some of it has caused tremendous fear and anxiety, which has done the same.

But at some point along our journey, we must come to recognize that evolving times call for evolved minds, emotions, and ways of being.

When your thoughts no longer serve your current condition or circumstances, you must be willing to replace them with new thoughts that will better serve you.

This brings me to the topic of shifting beliefs…

One of my favorite teachers on this subject would have to be Abraham and Esther Hicks. If you’ve never heard of them, I’d advise you to get started here.

I’ve been a student of theirs for nearly 5 years now, and I must say that their teachings are life changing. One of the points that their teachings consistently drive home is this:

A belief is only a thought you keep thinking until you believe it’s true…

The biggest problem with this is that most people focus on the problem more than they do the solution. To add to this principle on beliefs, whatever you focus on most in life, will grow, and you will start to see more and more evidence of it all around you.

Imagine that… It’s no coincidence that the person who chooses to focus on love, prosperity, and abundance are those who get to experience those things in their daily lives.

On the contrary, those who dwell in negativity, hopelessness, and lack (or a ‘not enough’ mentality) are those who live the misery of it all. Here’s why, according to Abraham:

The realization that something is not as you want it to be is an important first step, but once you have identified that, the faster you are able to turn your attention in the direction of a solution, the better, because a continuing exploration of the problem will prevent you from finding the solution. The problem is a different vibrational frequency than the solution—and all thoughts (or vibrations) are affected by (or managed by) the Law of Attraction.
Excerpted from Money and the Law of Attraction — 3/31/09

So how do we ensure that we are evolving in a way that will bring us closer to a more unified, healthy, and loving world?

Well, when we become aware of our own thoughts, we have to be honest about what comes up. If you find that your thinking is predominantly everything that you don’t wish to experience, then you must be willing to shift beyond those beliefs because they contribute to the whole.

With the surge of technology and platforms like YouTube, we are quickly becoming the spiritually awakened generation who understands the fundamentals of change better than any generation that ever lived.

It is up to each of us to keep ourselves educated on the principles and ideas that will move humanity forward. More importantly, we must be the demonstration of what we learn, because faith without action is useless.

When we are willing to change ourselves (individually) for the better, we help change our world collectively.

I’ll leave you with this brief lesson by Abraham of how we can take charge of our own beliefs (video below).

Watch and comment, I want to know what you think.

Love,

Brittnay

3 Beautiful Super Soul Lessons with Michael Bernard Beckwith (Full Edpisode)

This past weekend I was struck in awe of the beautiful lessons shared on Super Soul Sunday with Michael Bernard Beckwith and momma O.

In case you’re wondering why he looks so familiar, you may recognize him as one of the captivating speakers on The Secret documentary. He’s also written several books and has a mega trans-denominational church with more than 9,000 members in Southern California. Yes, he’s “that” guy! And I get why seeing as though I must have watched this episode at least 6 times, and I’m certain to watch it several more times.

There are just so many nuggets of goodness that I couldn’t absorb them all at once. But here are a few standout takeaways that I’m sure you could appreciate as well:

1. Always stop to think about the lessons of the moment… How can I grow through and from this circumstance?

Whatever the circumstance, it’s there to teach you something. It’s there to make you more of something. Stop and ask yourself, “If I had to live the rest of my days going through this, what qualities would I need in order to have peace?”

This one question may bring up words like strength, love, or patience… whatever the answers, at that very moment, wherever you are, start practicing those things. Start being patient, start showing your strength, start loving more. And the more you do these things, over time you will have developed a new and improved version of yourself. And more than likely, your circumstances will have changed for the better.

For me, the qualities would be patience, perseverance, discipline, and trust. What qualities would have to emerge for you? Leave your answers in the comment section below.

2. You can only have what you are willing to become vibrationally. You have to radiate the feelings of it.

No need for more words on this topic of attraction … He pretty much summed it all up. #LawOfAttraction

3. When you are feeling stuck, be willing to open up to a power greater than you and ask for help.

As I said before, POWERFUL lesson after lesson! I had to share it here with you all in case you missed it.

I tried embedding the full episode into this post below, but in case it doesn’t work out, you can watch it by clicking here.

Lessons From Ernest Holmes’ Science of Mind

This lesson reminds me of my work with grade school children. As an educator, you quickly become familiar with those children who’ve learned to “act out” for attention. Their reasons may vary, but their motive is the same: Disrupt by any means necessary.

My learning experience has been unique when it comes to classroom management. In an average classroom a teacher could have 2 or three disrupters. I’ve been so lucky to have had experience with nearly 10 times that many in one school year, and in one classroom. As emotionally taxing as it was, I learned that children will always express whatever the adults in the room expect of them. If the adult expects misbehavior, they will misbehave. If the adults expect that they will show effort, they do. And simultaneously, whatever the adults place focus on in a child, the child will express more of. For example, when a child is praised more for their kindness towards classmates than they are criticized for misbehavior, they will find ways to be more helpful, which could lead to less disruption from that child. Even in the classroom, whatever I focused within each child is exactly what they showed more of in behavior. The more consistent I was with my recognition of their good qualities, the more their behavior improved.

It made no sense for me to resist their bad behaviors by bringing unnecessary attention to it. Not only would it interrupt the moment for those kids who are on task, but it would only make the disrupter misbehave more. Instead, as I shifted my attention towards what I wanted to see more of from them, it neutralized their bad behaviors and made them step up to the plate so that they could be praised for their good instead.

The beauty in this lesson is that it can be applied beyond the classroom. In fact, it can be applied in every area of ones life. When Jesus said “Resist not…,” he didn’t mean that negativity wouldn’t exist. He knew that life was all encompassing, and that for every positive it’s opposite would exist. But what he also knew is that what you focus on most is what you will attract. And what you don’t give your energy to must flee. According to Holmes, we’ve been trained into expecting the worst, when our very nature is to EXPECT THE BEST. And the latter is what we should do ALWAYS.

When we make a decision to refuse to give our energy to negativity, and instead focus on positivity and those who bring good news, the bad will ultimately disappear from our personal experience. That doesn’t mean that it won’t exist in the rest of the world, but it does mean that it won’t be your experience, or anyone else who doesn’t entertain the thought of it. As we practice this spiritual law individually and collectively, we can “do more towards helping humanity than any charity has ever done.”

Thoughts anyone?

Tending to Spirit: The POWER of Focusing Within

love-hearts-live-hd-wallpapers-2-6-s-307x512 I feel so blessed to have this platform to share my passion of council/and coaching. I’m grateful to the many people whom I’ve had the privilege of crossing paths with throughout my journey, and the many lessons that I continue to learn from our interactions. Its funny because so often many of us take these interactions for granted, failing to see the beauty that pours from them because we are too busy focusing on everything surrounding them, rather than what is going on inside ourselves as a result of them. What i know for sure is that if we are open to allowing ourselves to become more, and to constantly improve our life experiences, we can contribute so much more to those around us.

When we take our attention away from the noise and distractions of the outside world (and the people in it), we give ourselves room to reflect on our own inner processes, such as what  makes us happy, what causes us pain, what makes us feel appreciative or appreciated. It has been written and uttered by the GREATS throughout the history of mankind, that man’s greatest task in life is to KNOW THYSELF. It is only through inner reflection, and the willingness to heal pains of the past and evolve, that one can change his own reality, and ultimately make a difference in the lives of others.

When we find ourselves in situations where we somehow feel that we were mistreated or wronged in some way, the greatest gift that we can give ourselves is the opportunity to make any experience less about another person, and more about what you can NOW do with a newfound awareness of self. This means that one should focus as often as possible on how their own thoughts, feelings, and actions may have somehow contributed to such an interaction. This is not to say that one should find fault within himself for something that occurred. However, it is to say that no one has the power to affect you in any way that you don’t allow them to. And as we now know, and have come to accept from the GREAT Sir Isaac Newton’s Laws of Motion,

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

This notion of knowing thyself has less to do with religious beliefs and theories, and everything to do with understanding that we are all physically interacting with one another as we live life on EARTH, and as result, we are constantly exchanging messages through our actions and words.  Life’s interactions are all about the balance of give and take. When we learn to take the focus from any and everything outside of ourselves and learn to go within to uncover the true meaning behind our choices (whether it be past hurts and joys, or pride and shame), we empower ourselves with the tools to walk the face of the EARTH with confidence and reassurance that we are indeed “Masters of our fate, captains of our souls.”

Another great thing about inner focus is that when we give ourselves room to have stillness and peace, we allow ourselves to recharge and approach any situation with a clear mind and more positive energy. Oftentimes we are so used to “reacting” to everything around us, typically out of emotion. But we all know that most decisions we make based on emotions are usually not the greatest. That’s because emotions are like the waves of the ocean, they are fickle and constantly change from one moment to the next. However, when we take all focus from the outer world and redirect it within, we allow ourselves to attract better outcomes from a less emotionally charged perspective, to a more serene and peaceful state of being. And we all have experience with this kind of phenomena. We all know how it feels to walk away from a person or thing until we feel better about the subject, only to realized that it turns out so much better when you do your own inner work.  Now that’s what true POWER really is!

Most recently, I stumbled across this audio track of one of my favorite Universal Law of Attraction teachers Abraham and Esther Hicks on the subject of focusing within. Please check it out and drop me a line (comment). I’d love to hear from you!

[Disclaimer: Language such as “Vortex,””Source Energy,” and Vibration are used instead of Spirit, GOD, and energy because the teachings have less to do with religion and EVERYTHING to do with understanding the human psyche and experience. Please look past the literal language and allow yourself to be open to new lessons.]

Namaste,

To have what you want, you must match your desires! #TeamDreamChasers

Happy Sunday dream chasers! I was inspired to blog about a topic that I have dealt with as I continue my own journey to becoming my best self.

For starters, we all have hopes, dreams, and desires for our lives. And oftentimes we wish and pray for these things to manifest, quickly. While that’s all great, we should not forget the key ingredient to having it all… Becoming a match to what you desire. That is, if there’s something that you are wanting in your life (i.e., better relationships, financial health, fancier lifestyle, finding your soul mate, etc.) there is a price that will always have to be paid in order to achieve any of those things. The price that you will have to pay is the “what or  who” it is that you must become in order to attract those things.

“Who or what do I need to become in order to have the things and experiences that I wish to have?”

A few months ago I came across a YouTube video of one of my favorite authors and motivational life coach Tony Robbins in which he discusses this from the standpoint of attracting one’s ideal mate. In this video he explains how one should prepare for being in a most fulfilling relationship by first becoming the best version of one’s self. If you are what you attract, then you must position yourself to attract those people, places, and things that represent your best version of yourself. Whatever that means for you.

Face it, you can’t be the person that wants to attract the most attractive, intelligent, and successful mate if you don’t become the kind of  person that an attractive, intelligent and successful mate would want to date. As Mr. Robbins suggests, one could start by creating very specific lists of his or her desires for whatever area they choose to focus on for the time being. The list must be clear about as many aspects  of the thing as possible. For example: I would love  a mate that is adventurous, loves sports, is philanthropic, loves family, and secure in his being. The next step would be to create a list of the things that I need to become to be the ideal mate for the mate that I wish to attract. Which based on the list above would go something like this: adventurous, at least tolerant and supportive of sports, care a great deal about the wellness of others, be well grounded with my own family (or at least have a strong desire to do so), and love. honor,  and approve of myself no matter what others may think or ask of me. One cannot ask of another what they are not willing to do or be themselves!

And honestly, all of these things take time, so be gentle with your process. You’ll get there!  You just have to be willing to do the work.

So what is it that you wish to attract? Are you willing to become a match to those desires. After all, it is the only way that you can truly achieve those things which are genuinely fulfilling.

Check out the video that inspired the blog below.

Louise Hay says ‘You Can Heal Your Life’: The powerful connection between thoughts, the body, & life

image

I was first introduced to the concept of the “law of attraction” as a sophomore in college. It’s a concept that has resonated with my spirit ever since. That’s probably because I was raised in a household that taught me that I could do and be anything in life as long as I believed it, and put lots of work into it.

In addition to that, growing up Christian Baptist taught me to ‘ask, and I shall receive… seek, and I shall find… knock, and the or shall be opened.’ And I could never forget one of my favorite BIBLE verses (okay, so I can’t remember exactly, lol) that says, “But wilt thou know ‘o’ vain man, that faith without works is dead?”

These very ideas shape who I have become today and forever more. But I have yet to become more impressed by any other groundbreaking piece of literature or idea, than that of bestselling author and metaphysics guru Louise Hay’s book titled, You Can Heal Your Life.

If you’re not familiar with the concept of the law of attraction, it pretty much states that your thoughts and the energy behind them are what shape your life experiences. In other words, most of what happens in life is not pure chance, but involves more interaction on your own part than you realize.

Louise takes this concept one step further by introducing the effect of thoughts on the body. Believe it or not, you can think yourself sick! Hence the reason why stress, anxiety, and depression can all lead to further bodily complications. According to metaphysical teachings, a lifetime of resentment, anger, and guilt (all emotions/ dis-eases of the mind) can lead to cancer, AIDS, and even simple things like ulcers (all dis-eases in the body).

But just as it is possible that you make yourself sick, you also have the power to make yourself well. Louise offers affirmations that help to re-program a lifetime of fear and negative thinking into new beginnings of self-love, forgiveness, compassion, overall well-being, and patience with the processes of life.

Reading this book can be life changing. At least, it has been for me. I would recommend everyone to check it out. Even if you don’t agree with things that she shares in her book, it will definitely force you to think about changing old patterns of thought.

Until next time, get ya mind right ppl!

Much Love,

@BCSTARKS 🙂
