Afternoon Inspiration: Madame Noire’s ‘She’s The Boss’ Series (I LOVE These HWICs!!!)

“It has been wayyyy too long since my last post. This should not happen!!! Especially with all the beautiful lessons that I am learning, and the amazing people who I meet daily. I vow to do better.” –@ BCSTARKS

HWIC = Head Women In Charge

Kela Walker, Series Host of Madame Noire's "She's The Boss"

Most recently I have bounced between a new fabulous job in the industry that I love most (Hair), and my final thesis project before graduating with a Master’s degree in Public Relations. My last project happens to be on the brand which I am currently working for, which I am beyond excited about. Today, while doing research on the history of African-American hair care enterprises, I came across some amazing videos that were posted to Madame Noire, a blog that I subscribe to on Facebook, and frequent occasionally.

The videos, which are part of an interview series titled “She’s The Boss” that the creators of the blog started to showcase the stories and accomplishments African-American businesswomen and entrepreneurs, are phenomenal! So much so, that I had to share them with my readers… or those of you that are left. Lol  (I’m so sorry y’all!!)

Please check out each one of them if you can, yes, even if you are not African-American. They are inspiring for any human being that aspires to do something special with their purpose and talents in life. In addition, they represent a little bit of everything, for everyone. From music lovers, to fashion, to public relations, to business, to sports… You name it, these women are LIFE!!!!

I was inspired by this AMAZING Post: How Will You Start the New Year?

As my readers know, I am a huge fan of author and metaphysical lecturer Louise Hay and all of the wisdom and life lessons that she’s shared throughout her 86 years of life. Most recently, I came across a post featured on her blog YouCanHealYourLife.com which asks a simple question: How will you start the new year? An excerpt from the post goes like this:

The New Year is upon us. We welcome the New Year with love and joy, know that what we give out comes back to us multiplied. As you begin your New Year, ask yourself these simple questions:

What shall I now release from my life?

What or who no longer works for me?

What am I holding on to that holds me back?

What thoughts or beliefs belong to the old me?

How am I being unloving to myself?

What do I believe that really works for me?

Am I ready to let go?

What is going on in my life that is terrific and wonderful?

Where am I being very loving to myself?

What I love most is the affirmation that Louise shares at the end of her post, which goes like this:

I am not limited by statistics, medical opinions, time or authorities.

I am one with the infinite wisdom and capabilities of the Universe itself.

All good is available to me, right here and right now.

All I have to do is to use the power of my thoughts to create that which I desire.

My readers also know that I am HUGE on affirmations as well. But for those of you who don’t know what exactly an affirmation is, here’s the beauty of them.

Affirmations are not quotes. They are statements that are positive in nature, and reflect the birthright of every human being. Affirmations are often the opposite of every negative thing that we as humans think to ourselves as a result of our life experiences. However, they can also become the new thoughts that we train ourselves to think, and ultimately shape the energy that we bring to each day that we are a part of this life. Afterall,  what you believe about life, and the energy and thoughts that you bring to the world is what your life ultimately becomes. But it all starts with yourself. So whatever you do, get to loving you!  Begin to be more conscious of the thoughts that you are AFFIRMING in your own life because it matters.

Love,

@BCSTARKS

What inspired you today?

The school semester has officially begun, and of course, I am on my last one… hopefully. *crickets*

I was given an assignment for my Social Media class, to do a profile blog on someone who used social media as a platform to become successful. Of couse the first person that came to mind for me was Necole Bitchie.

I absolutely have so much respect for her as fellow blogger, and as a young woman with goals and dreams. I have been following her blog and her story since 2008, when I first graduated from college, and she has been an inspiration ever since. Check out the brief blog that I posted to my PR website about Necole’s social media whirlwind of a story.

Since I am a firm believer in the Law of Attraction, I can confidently say that I look forward to meeting Necole at the top, as well as interviewing and featuring her in a “Blue Print” story on my site.

Necole’s story has inspired me, what inspired you today?
