Are You A Prisoner Of Fear?

The topic of fear has been one that I’ve visited often on the blog. Mostly because it’s the main source of many things that keep us separate from our truths. I still struggle with my own fears as I try to figure out my path and challenge old beliefs that no longer serve me. And man is it difficult to shatter learned paradigms!

Let’s be honest, we all know what it feels like to have hopes and dreams. But most of us know more about just wishing than we do the sweet taste of victory that accomplishing goals can bring. That’s because all too often we are so quick to talk ourselves right off the path of achieving them because we fear that we aren’t good enough, don’t have enough time or money, or resources, etc…

How then, do we ever expect things to change if we’re not willing to meet GOD halfway? After all, we are 100% responsible for our 50% part in co-creation with HIM. Dreams don’t just fall in one’s lap. You have to do more than just pray, you have to take bold and swift action.

“But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead”- James 2:20 KJV

When you’ve done all that you can do with the spirit of excellence, God will match your effort with miraculous results. Sounds like something that you already know intellectually, right? Me too! Lol But that’s where this notion of fearful imprisonment comes in.

Being a prisoner of fear means playing small and shying away from your highest expression of self. It’s that thing you do instead of going after your dreams, or letting your voice be heard on things that matter most to you. Being a prisoner of fear means procrastination, because it’s much scarier to begin a thing, than it is to avoid it. Being a prisoner of fear means running away from the very things that you’ve always yearned for because to run towards it would almost make it too good to be true. As if you don’t deserve it… !!! Being a prisoner of fear means staying stuck in a cycle that just won’t let things get better for you.

Why we put ourselves through such agony and misery at times is one of humanities most sought after mysteries. So much so that religions have been formed around the very idea of either reasoning fear, easing fear or creating more of it.

Being a prisoner of fear is not what God intended for us, yet its the source of overcoming for many people’s journey. Often seen as a great protector, fear only means imprisonment when we keep ourselves separate from the expansion of spirit, and the new-found awareness to do and be more in life.  The result is we avoid honoring our callings, talents, visions, desires all because it scares us far more to face the fear than to overcome it.

Are you a prisoner fear? If, so I’d like to know how you came to realize it and what you aspire to do to overcome it. Feel free to comment below or shoot me an email and your testimony can be featured on the blog!

“Surrender” Is the Key to Miracles Unfolding [VIDEO: Oprah’s own experience]

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?

For me it’s no trivial question. It’s a question that we’ve all been brought to from time to time–me, quite often along my journey. It has even brought me to my knees, and every single time I’ve only been met with one logical answer… SURRENDER.

I’ve come to know first hand that there is no greater power than the power of surrender. In fact, it is when we do the opposite, trying to always control the outcomes of this physical life, that we suffer the greatest pain. That’s because life is made up of more than just the physical parts that we can see, touch, taste, smell, and hear. Yes, we are more than just our physical bodies. According to A Course In Miracles, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Therefore, our true core operates in a dimension that oftentimes cannot be explained by anything physical short of a miracle.

But don’t get things twisted. To surrender doesn’t mean that we are being weak, or that we should condone poor behavior from others. It merely means that we find ourselves at a place of peace about what is, no matter what is. Once we’ve done all the good that we could do to try to help or  correct it, surrender that which is beyond our own control to the DIVINE, and watch grace take over and miracles unfold.

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” – James 4:10

So simple, yet often so hard to rid ourselves of the ego enough to let life unfold in our own favor.

Check out this video of “Momma O” (Oprah) as she opens up about her own experience with surrendering the trivial things of life to GOD and the Universe.

(Video INSPIRATION) Billionaire Tyler Perry’s Secret To Success: “Narrow Your Focus To One Idea”

When I watched this video, it resonated with me so much because of my own journey.  As some of my readers know, I’ve been “Dream Chasing” for the past 4 years with an idea that all began on a piece of paper… I’ve done several different jobs to make ends meet in between. I even went back to school to get a second degree because I believed that the training would add to my ability to help my dream come true (which it really has enhanced my skill set). But I ended up all over the place and doing all the things that I thought would be pleasing to other people. And I knew that it had to STOP. Most recently, I found myself at a crossroads of which direction I wanted to head with my life… and I chose to narrow everything down to one idea, one area of focus.

After watching Tyler Perry explain that his success was based on him focusing on accomplishing one goal, and believing in that goal no matter what his physical reality was, is the reason he is where he is today, I was beyond INSPIRED. In comparison to my own journey, I would have to say that he’s right. Since coming to grips with what I am wanting out of life, and making the decision to focus on just that, I have seen many doors of opportunity open up… And it only gets better from here.

The thing you’re looking for is always within YOU!

This lesson is one that I am constantly reminded of.

Everyone is looking for something to get out of this life… something to complete them, or make them happy, or make their lives better. For many its material things, or financial “success.” For others its fame, recognition, or the love and affection of a parent or significant other. Whatever the void may be, at some point most people find themselves searching for something that will make this very moment or life better than what it is.

As a liver of life, I can attest that I once found myself looking for something outside of me to make me feel complete, only to find myself chasing something that could never be caught… at least not the way that I was going about it. This same scenario becomes the tale of everyone who finds themselves in this place. Because the truth is, nothing or no one outside of you can fill the void that you believe is there but YOU.

I place heavy emphasis on the “YOU” part because regardless of what your religious faith or spiritual status may be, you should never dismiss the fact that you have some control over your own life. Even if you pray to Jesus,  Buddha,  Allah, or no one at all, there is always the “YOU” in the equation that makes it complete. Whether its love and affection, money, “success’, fame or recognition, the more you chase what is outside of you, the longer it will take for you to realize that what you really want is what you could have had all along if you had just taken the time recognize your own power.

I’m not sure what it’s referred to in other religions, but in the Christian faith the Bible teaches that the peace and happiness that we as humans seek to experience cannot be found anywhere outside of every living creature on Earth… because it lies within:

“And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said the kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! Or, lo there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you.” – Luke 17: 20-21 (KJV)

I’m no religious person, but even life will eventually teach you that if you really want to be happy, you need to tend to your own inner guidance because nothing outside of that will give you the peace of mind that you seek. Some call it “getting right with GOD,” others call it “becoming more spiritual,” or “developing a higher sense of awareness,” but it’s all the same. I don’t claim to have a roadmap to understanding this concept and practicing it, but I will share what helped me get there:

I learned to start telling a different story about my life. I learned that instead of focusing on all the bad, I became more appreciative of the good. That’s when life began to give me more experiences, people, and things to appreciate. When I stopped criticizing myself and appreciating all of who I am, I felt more loved than ever before because I began to love me more. When I realized that even when it seems like I don’t have a solution, or enough money, I am always provided for… and so I worry no more. When I realized that certain things will always be out of my control, and that the only control I truly have is over my own thoughts and actions, I began to take responsibility for my own life. I learned never to place blame, no matter what, because doing so only gives the other person power and control over my own happiness. Most importantly, I learned to look within for the answers to questions that only I and GOD can answer. After all, his KINGDOM (peace, joy, happiness, prosperity, love… our slice of heaven on Earth) is within.

Love always,

The Dream Maker: Thinking & Growing Rich

image

Think & Grow Rich…

Its been almost three weeks since I’ve purchased this book, and believe it or not, I’m still reading it. But that’s a good thing.

Each time I pick it up I come across sentences laced with concepts so powerful that I’m forced to give myself time to absorb them fully.

The thing is, when I’m drawn to concepts which give me a strong sense of enligtenment, I like to  give myself time to think about them; to take them in enough to see how they could be applied to my everyday life. I like to put myself to the test because I have a strong understanding that knowledge alone is not power… but applied knowledge IS.

And so, thanks to Napoleon Hill, I am coming to fully understand “Power thinking and being.” I believe that none of us are ever really far off from reaching our fullest potential, we just have to be open to new ways of channeling our energy and focus so that we can make room for new ways of being.

I must say that I am enjoying this part of my life because I have never felt so free to do and be all that I can imagine.

Also, I am proud to know that I already possess the humble beginnings of what Mr. Hill refers to as the “Master Mind group.”

According to Hill, “People take on the nature and the habits and the POWER OF THOUGHT of those with whom they associate with in a spirit of sympathy or harmony.”

In other words, those who are in a position of power or sucess have attained it through their association or alliance with others who are on the same frequency of success and power, and have come together in harmony to form an energy so great that it cannot be denied by anyone or anything, not even the Universe.

It reminds me of the Bible verse which says:

“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall AGREE on earth as touching any THING that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:19,20)

This revelation is so profound that it pays wonders to be able to grasp and apply it.

My hope is that as I continue to grow and learn and share with others my lessons, that others will allow the power of applied enlightenment to take over their worlds and make life pure bliss… or at least close to it. 😉

Until next time,
