Beauty Inspiration: Here’s why Celebrity MUA BeatFaceHoney would slay ratings on OWN *VIDEO Pilot*

For starters, I was inspired to write this post because I am continuously inspired by this woman.

For those of you that are not familiar with this gorgeous face, allow me to introduce you to celebrity makeup artist and educator…THE ONE AND ONLY…Tatiana Ward, better known as BeatFaceHoney! Take a look below:

Notice my excitement…!!!!

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you know that I love all things beauty and fashion… and of Divine Spirit of course!

At one point, I even had a section on this blog titled Beauty Inspiration.

Well, let’s just say that I’m bringing this title out of retirement to give a major shout out to this amazingly talented and driven woman.

I first learned about BeatFaceHoney around 2011. At the time, I had just started this blog, and I was constantly searching for content that inspired me. I must have gone to YouTube to find inspiration of some sort, when I stumbled upon the channel of BeatFaceHoney.

Let’s just say that I’ve been hooked ever since.

What I remember most about discovering her videos, was that she was a girl who had a love for beauty and teaching, just like me, and all she wanted to do was share what she knew with whoever could benefit from it.

Even then, while sitting at her bedside in her parents’ basement with a ton of makeup at hand, an occasional curling iron, and whatever recording device she used to capture it all, she was an awesome educator. She was well spoken and graceful, passionate, fun to watch, super talented, and completely transparent with anything that viewers would want to know about her craft. BFH was and is the REAL DEAL!

I mean… She taught me how to put on eyeshadow, apply my foundation flawlessly, and fill in my brows for goodness sake!

And if anyone wanted to become a makeup artist, through her timeless videos, she teaches viewers how to get started and what to expect, recommends products, and shows how to mix and match foundation tones for brown girls. She even shares parts of her personal journey. It’s the kind of education that people pay lots of money for these days. And she did it out of a pure desire to share, long before it became the “it” thing to do on YouTube.

I write so passionately about her (and no, I’ve never met her… nor does she know anything about this) because she’s been so inspiring to me from day one. She has helped so many of her fans get on the path to living their dreams, all because she was bold enough to pursue a path uncharted, and create a lane of her own.

As a follower, what captured me most, was the power of what she’s nicknamed her BeatFaceBrigade (her following). I was not only a witness to her rise to fame, but I also participated in sending out a series of tweets, along with fellow BFBs that got the attention of Nicki Minaj when she posted that she was looking for a makeup artist in New York.

We were all over it, tweeting that Nicki should choose BeatFaceHoney for the job. It was that collective action that helped her go from in front of the camera on YouTube, to doing makeup for Nicki Minaj and Brandy, followed by many others… all with a few collective tweets from thousands of followers.

It felt so good to see her win, and I’d love to see her go even further.

Why OWN TV?

I tagged Oprah Winfrey Network in the title of this post because I am a huge fan of the network. In fact, I was an early adopter that was often retweeted by the network on Twitter in its early days because I wanted the world to know about shows like Life Class and Master Class (I even wrote about my Twitter experience. Check it out here.).

They were, and still are, life changing television programs.

I grew up the daughter of a hairstylist, and in my mother’s hair salon, the only time she allowed the television on during the day was to watch The Oprah Winfrey Show. My mother was not about promoting anything but positivity, hence the reason why I am the way I am.

Recently, BeatFaceHoney shared in an Instagram post that she recorded a pilot for a show that she dreams of having on OWN.

After watching it and reflecting on the impact that she’s already had on my life, I was deeply moved to find a way to be another voice to echo this vision of hers.

BeatFaceHoney represents ambition and hard work, positivity and passion, tenacity and perseverance, and so much more. She would be an amazing asset to draw in an audience that is obsessed with beauty; only, she has much more to offer than vanity.

Did I mention that she’s also a recording artist? Yes, I said it. She’s a singer who once auditioned on American Idol. And she happened to write every makeup artist’s slay anthem, Slay To The Gawds.

While she’s at it, she could probably be a motivational speaker as well.

I would absolutely LOVE to watch a reality show for and by girls like me, who are not here for the drama. And I would LOVE to watch it on my favorite network! With more than 10 million views on YouTube and over 400K followers on Instagram, I know that I’m not the only one who’d tune in to watch her show.

If you are a reading this as a fan and follower of BeatFaceHoney, I want you to share this post on social media. That means retweet, repost, and share so that we can get our girl on TV, and on just the right network!

If this is all new to you, get to know BeatfaceHoney on YouTube, and feel free to scroll back as far as 6 years ago (The woman has BEEN WERKIN’!). I promise you’ll see what I mean. Then come back here and share, share, SHARE.

Here’s the pilot for the show that she and her team (and me!) hope will one day have a home at OWN:

My fingers are crossed, and I know that she’s leaving it up to God and the Universe.  We’ve seen it happen on her behalf before through the power of social media. Let’s see what we can collectively help manifest this time around.

Love,

The 3 Gems of LIFE: Self-Esteem, Self-Value, & Self-Worth

There’s this reoccurring lesson that keeps presenting itself to me in various forms of my day to day interactions with others. And for a while I didn’t recognize just what it was truly about. In fact, in many of those instances, I thought that somehow life was playing a cruel trick on me. Yes, even I played the victim role. But it hasn’t been until recently that I had to take several steps back and connect the dots in every single one of those scenarios. From interactions with family, boyfriends, co-workers, potential business partners, employers, on down the list… I had been experiencing what felt like a tug-o-war over how I wanted them to see me vs. how I felt I was being treated. And let me tell you, as foolish as this feels for me to admit, I understand that its all a part of growing up. We all have experienced or will experience such a feeling of being under appreciated, or undervalued, especially when we truly know who we are inside.

The trick to something like this is that it’s never really about the people that you are interacting with. In fact, they aren’t even half of the equation of this battle that you’re facing. From what I had to learn, and I’m still absorbing nuggets of wisdom from, is that:

We teach others how to treat us, by the way we treat ourselves

We show people how to interact with us, by the way we interact with ourselves

We inform the world of how much we are worth, by the way we value ourselves

The world looks at us the very same way that we look at ourselves

When we see and feel ugliness and pain within, the world will reflect that same ugliness and pain to us through our interactions

When we see beauty, love, and kindness within, the world will reflect that same beauty, love, and kindness through others

When we show forgiveness for ourselves for our own shortcomings and flaws, it is easier to forgive others, and it unknowingly makes it easier for them to forgive us

When we stand up for ourselves and become our own biggest champion, others will rise to meet us, defend us, and cheer us on

When we feel amazing, unstoppable, and fearless on the inside, life will give us more evidence of just how amazing, unstoppable and unconquerable we really are

When we understand that we and GOD/SOURCE/UNIVERSE are ONE, we understand that we too possess unlimited power and NOTHING or NO ONE outside of us has control over our lives

YOU ARE IN CONTROL of YOU and ONLY YOU!

These nuggets of wisdom come in handy as I continue to sort through what I feel is best for me within my interactions, and in order for me to live my best life. This includes how I wish to be treated by family, friends, significant others, and so on. I’m understanding my role in all of these interactions and how I am hardly ever a victim in any of them. Its all about learning to love myself on the deepest levels, feeling whole and complete at all times (regardless of what I have or have not accomplished), being confident in the woman that I’ve become so far, setting boundaries for what I will and will not tolerate from others (and sticking to it…there’s no point in betraying what you really feel on the inside, otherwise you will attract experiences where others will betray you as well).

Are you starting to get the point here? If more love is what you desire, then figure out where in your life you are not loving yourself enough. Do you often criticize yourself and the way you look? Do you feel like you don’t deserve certain things, even though you really want them? Or do you feel like others won’t do certain things for you, even though you would really like them to? Do you beat up on yourself when you make mistakes or not so great decisions? If so, this is exactly what you are training others to do when they interact with you. To turn it all around, learn to be kind to yourself. Learn to do things for yourself that you would like others to do for you (remember, they are watching your movements and ultimately following your lead). Know that you deserve any and every good thing that you can imagine for your life. And perhaps the people that you are interacting with are not the one’s to give you what you really need. Instead, they are a reflection of who you are choosing to be in those moments. So when you finally wise up and learn to value yourself, perhaps those same people will either step their game up in how they treat you, or disappear altogether and make room for people that will honor this new and improved version of you.

This lesson is something kinda special. I’m not saying that its easy to do either, because one of the hardest things to do in life is to unlearn bad habits. But with effort, gentleness, and time, you can become anything that you want to be!

Namaste,

Beauty Inspiration: Full and Naturally Shaped Brows That WOW!

I have always had super thick and wild eye brows, and I didn’t really appreciate them until I reached my twenties. I have attempted to have them tamed and trained by “experts” in various beauty spots on occasion, but I could hardly ever find someone who understands that brows already have a natural shape that can be followed, and that everyone doesn’t have to leave with overly expressive brows… You know, the kind that are either too sharp and pointed that you always look angry, or too round and high that you always look surprised.

Luckily, my hairstylist/ beauty expert for life is the bomb because she gets it (she also happens to be my mother).  After all of my not-so-good experiences, I’ve grown to appreciate my “eyebrow lady” and I absolutely LOVE my brows. So much so, that I vow to never let another person wax, or thread, or tweezer them away until they are nearly non-existent and out of shape. EVER!!

I found these pics on the net that inspired me to be proud of the bushes above my eyes. Thick brows are the ish, whether you grow them, or get a little help. WERK!

Fashion Inspiration: Vogue’s “Five Days, Five Looks, One Girl” Series

This throwback photo of Super Model turned mogul, Tyra Banks, puts me in a place of empowerment and reassurance of my own life path. I’ve been working with a project that’s beauty/hair related for the past few years, and seeing my vision for it slowly unfold has been a dream come true. The patriotic top that Ms. Banks is rocking symbolizes that “It’s made in America…” It makes me feel inspired all over again, which brings me to this song:

An open gesture of gratitude…

As this beautiful journey of mine continues to unfold, I want to share with my readers my appreciation for being. Much like I would in a silent prayer, I openly thank my SOURCE for revealing to me my own power. I am grateful for those obstacles which have helped to shape my entire being, for they remind me of where my greatest and true strength lies… Yes, within.

I’m thankful for knowing that its always there when I need it; to guide me when I feel that I’ve lost my way; to help guide others to their own; to help restore peace, and to help me to become a channel of LOVE that shines brightly upon the faces of many. I am grateful for this platform, for it allows me to reach those who feel a bit of growth within themselves upon reading these posts. I look forward to continuing to become that “beacon on the hill” whose story inspires many to inspire others.

This is my open gesture of gratitude, to remind all that even amidst challenges, there is still so much more to thankful for.

Love,
